Children and Adolescents:

Direct Child/Adolescent work:

I prioritise a systemic approach in my work with children and adolescents. I understand that young people's mental health is deeply influenced by their family dynamics, school environment, and social relationships.

Therefore, I strive to create a warm and supportive atmosphere where they feel safe to express themselves.

In my practice, I actively collaborate with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure that the support provided is holistic and effective.

I believe that involving the family in therapy is crucial, as it helps to address the underlying issues that may be affecting the child or adolescent.

By working together with parents and caregivers, we can develop strategies that promote positive change both at home and at school.

I often conduct Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings, bringing together key individuals involved in the child's life—such as teachers, social workers, and healthcare providers—to discuss their needs and create a coordinated plan of action.

This collaborative approach allows us to share insights and ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding the best ways to support the young person.

Ultimately, my goal is to create a supportive network around each young person I work with, fostering resilience and promoting positive mental health outcomes.

Working with Parents:

There are times when working directly with a child or young person may not be possible or may not be the most effective approach for creating change. In these cases, I work directly with parents to help them gain a deeper understanding of their child's psychological world—what might be driving the behaviour behind the surface.

This process provides parents with space to explore their own triggers and equips them with tools and strategies to respond in ways that foster positive change and support their child’s development.
